Armaan Ebrahim finishes sixth at Brands

London, July 24: India´s Armaan Ebrahim completed a profitable weekend with a sixth place finish in the 10th round of the FIA

Formula 2 championship at the Brands Hatch circuit, near here on Sunday.

The 22–year old Armaan, sponsored by JK Tyre, Amaron and Trimex, who had secured a ninth place and two points in Saturday´s ninth round, thus came away with a tally of 10. He has a total of 16 championship points, including the six he had secured in the second round at Silverstone in April.

Armaan was made to work hard for his sixth place as he was under constant pressure from Switzerland´s Christopher Zanella, winner of two races this season and currently second in the championship standings. The two crossed the finish line with very little separating them.

Earlier, in the qualifying session, Armaan had a good run as he posted eighth quickest time for a grid position ahead of Zanella.

Reviewing his performance, Armaan said: "I am obviously pleased to finish both races in top 10 this weekend and hopefully, this is a turnaround in my campaign.

"I had a pretty decent qualifying session, but I could have done better. I ran into traffic when I wanted to use the boost for my flying lap and I had to back off. I wanted to do another flying lap, but the threads on the tyres had worn off.

"In the race, I made two places early on, and then held off Zanella to protect my sixth place. Overall, it was quite satisfying, though I will say it could have always been better.

"Going into the remaining three rounds (six races), I feel quite confident. I hope to deliver some better results and move up the championship ladder."

The series takes a four–week break and the next two rounds will be held in Austria´s Red Bull Ring on August 26–28.
